David Armistead is a consulting strategist and thought leader focused on the use of social media in business and community development. He has extensive consulting experience including work at Coopers & Lybrand, Laventhol & Horwath, and independent consulting, with past client work at firms such as First Chicago and Northern Trust banks, Fulbright & Jaworski law firm, Texas Instruments and National Semiconductor manufacturers, Tyson and Campbell Soup food processors, and government entities including the US Bankruptcy Court, the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin and Travis County Housing Authority.
He has presented on social media at SXSW Interactive (’08, ’09), Innotech (’08), World Futures Society – Austin (’08), is co-producing a panel at the 2010 “Green Economy” annual conference of the National Council on Science and the Environment, and will lead a core conversation at SXSW Interactive 2010.
Dave Evans
Principal
Dave Evans is author of Social Media Marketing: An Hour a Day, the best selling guide to implement and measure social media for marketing. Building on the approach outlined there, Dave listens to what a client’s business communications needs are; evaluates client operations, marketing, and management processes; and then develops with the client an effective, measured approach to the use of social media to achieve business goals.
He has extensive advertising experience creating strategy for integrated communications in work with GSD&M and its clients like Southwest Airlines, AARP, Wal-Mart, PGA TOUR, Dial, and Chili’s. Prior to advertising and marketing, Dave worked with Progressive Insurance Company as a Product Manager, and as a Systems Analyst for the Voyager deep space exploration program with NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratories. In 2009 he designed and led the American Marketing Association’s 2-day seminar series titled, “Social Media Marketing.”
Rob Portil, Senior Associate – Web Strategy and Development
Rob Portil is a web strategist focused on the development of large scale web structures. He was one of the first web developers, building large scale web sites from the very beginning of the commercial web. A leader in Web site design, development and emerging technologies, he has developed sites for The Hewlett-Packard Company, The American Bar Association, The San Francisco Airport, and the Idea Marketplace for Microsoft as the innovation site for Microsoft’s employee base. Rob most recently launched Krilix, The Social Network for Local Business focusing on social networking to connect local businesses with their customers.
Rob is also an avid flyfisher, a past officer and president of the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club, and developer and publisher of Fly Fishing Life Magazine, an online beauty.
Bill Anderson, Senior Associate – Emerging Web Technologies
Bill Anderson is a general systems architect, engineer and educator with experience in all aspects of product development from strategy through deployment. As a consultant he has mentored teams in participatory methods for user-experience research, product innovation, and requirements discovery. His approach is empirical and focused on measuring results and learning from experience. He has worked in small companies and large corporations in telecom, pharmaceutical, and document systems industries and with non-profits and international science NGOs. Bill’s experience includes work with Pennwalt Pharmaceuticals, Computer Consoles (later Northern Telecom), Xerox Corporation, PitneyBowes, The Texas Center for Digital Knowledge, the Interpublic Group, and several start-ups. He is on the faculty of the School of Information at The University of Texas at Austin. Bill was an early adopter of many social media technologies and practices, and presented on the social aspects of social media at SXSW 2006 and at Innotech 2007.
